View all Austin’s Colony homes for sale Austin’s Colony is a great subdivision located in Bryan, Texas near the intersection of Hwy. 6 and F.M. 158 (Boonville Road).  This area has developed quite a bit in the past couple of years.  A new school, Rudder High School along with a movie theater, Premiere Cinemas and a shopping center that consists of a Super Target, Shipley’s Doughnuts, Baskin Robbins, Eyemart Express, Citifinancial, E-Nail Topia, Dollar Tree, Rue21, Rack Room Shoes, Maurices, Logan’s Steakhouse, Anytime Fitness, Salt Grass Steakhouse, IHOP, and a Burlington Coat Factory are just a few new amenities that have been added to accommodate the Krogers, Jack-in-the-Box, Cotton Patch, and other surrounding stores. The neighborhood was built in 1994 and is still expanding today.  Many new lots are being developed behind the Mitchell Elementary School and Austin’s Colony Park.  The park is city maintained and includes covered tennis and basketball courts, a full sized in-line skating rink, playground equipment, soccer and baseball fields, covered ramada, grills, disc golf course, sand volleyball courts, and more! Rudder High School opened Fall 2008 with a freshman and sophomore class.  The school will add a new freshman class each year to have a full 4 year school by 2010.  The school was named for General James Earl Rudder, a soldier, land commissioner, and president of Texas A&M.  Rudder won the election for Texas land commissioner in 1956 and served until February 1, 1958. That year, he became vice president of Texas A&M University. He became president in 1959 and president of the entire A&M system in 1965.  The current principal is Hugh Piatt.  Associate Principals are Ike Hernandez and Shannon McGehee. The Home Owner’s Association of Austin’s Colony is administered by a 9 member board of directors. Annual dues are only $108.  Current board members are: Jared MacDonald, President; Gina Ortiz, Vice-President; Alicia Ramirez, secretary; Tommy Bridges, treasurer; Cindy Cose; Sandro “Frog” Minatreo; Peggy Bloomer; Bettye Pool; Mark Carrabba, advisory director. Residents are always welcome to attend meetings which are typically the first Tuesday of the month.
